Shockwave Therapy

Focused Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment designed to improve mobility and reduce pain in joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. At NeoGenix, we utilize advanced focused shockwave technology to precisely target damaged tissue and stimulate the body’s natural healing response. Shockwave therapy is commonly recommended for chronic joint pain, tendon and ligament injuries, and inflammatory conditions, particularly when symptoms have not improved with physical therapy, rest, or cortisone injections.

This focused sound wave reaches damaged areas with precision, triggering a cascade of biological responses that:

  • Break down calcifications and scar tissue
  • Stimulate angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth)
  • Activate your body’s natural healing process
  • Support tendon and ligament remodeling

Focused Shockwave is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment designed to restore mobility and reduce pain in joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Focused Shockwave is ideal for joint pain, tendon and ligament injuries, and chronic inflammatory conditions, especially ones that haven’t responded to physical therapy or cortisone injections.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

At NeoGenix, we have always prided ourselves on focusing our expertise on Autologous Stem Cell and PRP treatments for musculoskeletal pain. While many clinics offer shockwave therapy as a stand-alone treatment, NeoGenix typically combines shockwave therapy with biologic treatments (PRP or Stem Cell Therapy).

Typically, we do a focused shockwave treatment before our prep shot, before our stem cell or PRP treatment, and at the first few follow up visits after stem cell or PRP treatment. Although NeoGenix doctors have performed over 6000 PRP and stem cell treatments with excellent, long lasting results, we have learned that by adding Focused Shockwave Therapy to our protocols, we will improve our success rate by optimizing the biologics ability to heal damaged tissue.

Focused Shockwave Therapy FAQs

How is this different from StemWave or SoftWave?

Most branded “shockwave” treatments use unfocused or less precise sound waves only. They do not reach deep tendons or joints. Our system uses focused acoustic energy with higher intensity, targeted depth, and a regenerative protocol based on your diagnosis.

Is the treatment painful?

Focused Shockwave Therapy creates a sensation or pressure or tapping on the treatment area. Most patients find treatments very tolerable—and we adjust intensity based on your needs and comfort.

Is Focused Shockwave Therapy Safe?

Yes. This FDA cleared technology was developed in Europe and is currently used around the globe. A wealth of medical experience, state-of-the-art engineering, and optimal quality have been built into each EPAT/ESWT device. Extensive clinical studies and tests have confirmed its safety and efficacy. If performed by a qualified medical provider, Focused Shockwave therapy has virtually no risks or side effects.

How is Focused Shockwave Therapy performed?

Coupling gel is applied to the specified treatment area to enhance effectiveness. After these preparations, focused shock waves are release via the hand help applicator which is moved over the area in a circular motion. Focused Shockwave is a sensation therapy. The patient will only feel sensation over areas of the body that have damaged or compromised tissue. Power can be increased at any time to the patient’s comfort to increase the amount of sound waves going to the injured area. Typical treatment time will be less than 10 minutes.
